directed by Alan Swerdlow

22nd June – 9th July

A new theatrical variant is about to open at Sandton’s Theatre on the Square – LOCKED UPSIDE DOWN… AND INSIDE OUT! Daphne Kuhn is proud to announce a sequel to the musical comedy revue, with a touch of the original, LOCKED UPSIDE DOWN, which enjoyed capacity audiences earlier this year.

The gorgeous, talented girls are back and boosted… with more songs and new stories to share! The new productions will open on the 22nd June and run for three weeks.

LOCKED UPSIDE DOWN … AND INSIDE OUT should be a welcome theatrical tonic for the challenging lockdown period that we have all endured. Conceived by and features the talented SHARON SPIEGEL-WAGNER with LORRI STRAUSS, and introducing musical director and pianist, ELIZABETH LEMMER. The production is directed and co-written by the esteemed ALAN SWERDLOW.

LOCKED UPSIDE DOWN…. AND INSIDE OUT explores the trials and tribulations of two mothers, their friendship and wacky antics as they confront the devastating Covid pandemic during lockdown and beyond.

Kuhn writes: “We are inviting our very loyal and supportive audience back to Theatre on the Square, to experience again, the joy of stimulating, relevant and entertaining live theatre and music”.

We have no doubt that LOCKED UPSIDE DOWN… AND INSIDE OUT will be a special night out, filled with an abundance of laughter, tears and memories. Through songs and stories, audiences will be tapping their feet to reimagined and familiar theatre songs. The production team hopes to fill hearts with music, warmth, hope and healing.

It opens on the 22nd June and runs for three weeks till the 9th July (Wednesdays to Fridays at 7.30 and Saturdays at 5pm and 8pm) Bookings can be made online via Computicket on www.computicket.com or by calling the theatre on 083 377 4969 or 011 883-8606. David Wells, a retired mechanical engineer, who fought at the Battle of Delville Wood as a youngster in 1916, relives the Battle, in AT ALL COSTS.

This is a play in which one man stands on stage, flanked by nothing more than a chair and a simple map of a location where thousands of men died to protect a conceptual, strategic idea of victory – AT ALL COSTS. Nothing more than those simple props – and Terry’s excellent, passionate acting – is needed.” – Bruce Dennill
